Kalahari horseriding in Namibia
Africa on horseback: Our ten riding horses are well trained and taken care of by a trained professional who will be glad to give riding lessons or accompany you on a Kalahari ride, no matter whether you are a beginner or an advanced rider.
The horses are used to game (including rhinoceros and giraffes). This means that the animals can often be ridden past game at close distance.
Before venturing out into the bush, we will ask you to pay a visit to the riding stables to make sure your saddle is comfortable and you feel confident on “your” horse.
We have a dressage arena, a jumping arena and a special area for lunging as well as a fenced-in Round Pen.
We also offer riding experiences for children.
Our horses are all in a good condition, well groomed, trustworthy and do not bite or kick.
Saddles (Kiefer, Passier), bridles (Stubben), and all other riding equipment are in excellent condition. Riding helmets and chaps are provided.

1 1/2 day stalking, riding & hiking
In the morning we go on a stalking tour into the savannah. On this tour you will learn a lot about flora and fauna of the Kalahari (duration about 2 hours). And you have got the possibility to stop over at our bushcamp. It is situated in the heart of the savannah and consists of spacious housetents with en-suite bathrooms and a simple bushtoilet not far away.
After lunch you choose your horse, helmet and chaps. In the afternoon, after coffee & cake at the lodge, you will start for your trail ride into the sunrise (duration 2,5 to 3 hours). In the dawn you will arrive at the bushcamp where you will stay for the night. Enjoying a typical dinner under the stars and a big campfire will give you a very authentic feeling for the Kalahari.
The next morning, after (a simple) breakfast, you will be guided by a bushman on your hike into the Kalahari and back to the lodge. Here a splendid lunch will be waiting for you.
Recommendation: No special riding skills necessary. This horse ride into the Kalahari is suitable for beginners and hobby riders as well as advanced riders. We please you to arrive the day before so we can start early in the morning to our stalking tour.
Please note:
Unfortunately, spontaneous riding requests on site are not possible
Since we not only want to plan the horse management (farrier, dentist, vaccinations, training), but also want to provide the right horse for you, we ask for the riding information you want when booking a Kuzikus.
This allows us to adapt to your riding needs and guarantee a sustainable riding experience for you and our horses.
Information: We need your age, weight (max. 85kg), your riding experience (beginner, advanced, never ridden), as well as your last riding experience (date) and a brief description of your physical health.
If you want to take a ride at Kuzikus, please indicate this at your booking, giving us your height, weight and riding skills. Which special ride you will take can be chosen spontaneously at Kuzikus. Our horses are suited for people up to 85 kg / 190 lb max.
